He was sentenced the SAZA-E- KALA PANI in 1910 in the case of Nasik Conspiracy. The was given the badge no . 32778-D ( D means Dangerous). Alongwith this his badge was also showing his year of freedom-1960. The English officer commented while welcoming him in Cellular jail, that dont worry this is a kind government , this will free you in 1960. Veer Savarkar replied that Death is more kind than government , this will free me before the government. In the jail he was given the work of pulling the crusher (kohlu)to crush the coconuts. The English man sat over the chair in the centre and the puller was pulled by two Indian Freedom fighters. ( photo above).
